Terang’s Vietnam Veterans’ Day commemorations on the 20th August paid tribute to Terang born Private Paul Navarre of the 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. Paul was killed in action in Vietnam on June 6, 1970 at the age of 21.

Paul, a National Serviceman, was born in Terang on the 5th September 1948 and originally enlisted under the surname Crawley but as Pte Navarre had not been recognised during the simultaneous Victoria-wide graveside vigils held earlier this year. Paul is buried in Beechworth.Friends, family, and Vietnam and other veterans, gathered to remember and pay tribute to Paul’s sacrifice.
A good number of GDVVAA members attended to participate in the ceremony and support GDVVAA member Alan Fleming, from Camperdown, who played a significant role in organising this Commemoration in combination with the Terang RSL, service clubs and community.See the 7RAR Webpage for more information.   Article from Warrnambool Standard
